The best 15+ travel games for your phone that work offline

January 3, 2023 by Karen Turner 4 Comments

As someone with limited data, I’m always astounded how few apps work well offline and without data. I’m often toying with a new phone app that I can play while on the road.  After far too many apps that I’ve burned through during a long bus ride, I’ve asked my fellow bloggers for their favorite travel game apps for iPhone and Android that work perfectly offline, so even if you’re on a long plane ride, you can still enjoy playing on your phone!  I’ve tried to focus this list on thought-provoking games for your phone that challenge your mind, rather than games that just keep you busy (as they’re addictive).

A review of flying with TUI airlines long haul from Amsterdam to Orlando (Sanford)

November 1, 2018 by Karen Turner 8 Comments

Prior to moving to the Netherlands, I had NEVER heard of TUI airlines. I’m writing this review of TUI airlines because I couldn’t find much about flying with TUI in English and I think that it’s a great alternative to more expensive options. Although I travel a lot, I’m often skeptical of flying with new airlines, especially if the price is that good and it’s a direct flight to somewhere that I want to go. Keep reading for my experience of flying with TUI airlines and what to know before you fly with TUI airlines!

What to do during an overnight layover in Dubai: A review of our night tour of Dubai

August 8, 2018 by Karen Turner 11 Comments

Sometimes, you find an amazing flight for a very cheap price, however there’s something off about it.  This happened when I was heading to Borneo last year.  After realizing that we had a 10 hour layover at the Dubai International Airport while flying Emirates economy, I ended up looking into nights tours in Dubai as it was my first time in the U.A.E.  This post is about my experience doing an overnight layover in Dubai and what to expect in terms of the airport/leaving the airport!

Your insider guide to a perfect layover in Amsterdam by a local

October 14, 2019 by Karen Turner Leave a Comment

As a seasoned traveler through Schiphol Airport who lives in Holland, I’ve been asked quite a few times about making the most of a layover in Amsterdam while transiting through Schiphol Airport.  Although I’ve flown a lot, I find Schiphol to be one of the better airports that I’ve flown through due to its easy public transit connection with Amsterdam, its clear signage in English, and how quickly you can get out of the airport once you get your bags.  This guide to a layover in Schiphol will help you think of some nice activities to fill up your Schiphol layover.

Is WOW air worth it? An honest review of flying economy class

October 11, 2018 by Karen Turner Leave a Comment

As someone who loves to travel and who lives abroad, I often try out budget airlines that fly between Europe and the United States.  On my most recent trip back home, I flew with WOW airlines, a budget Icelandic airline between Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) and New York City (JFK). On the way home, I flew from New York city to Schiphol Airport with WOWAir.

I have not been compensated at all for this review, but I thought that an honest review of WOW air would be helpful for anyone looking for an affordable flight to/from Europe or the United States, even if you’re not visiting Iceland.
