As a serial Netflix binger, you can believe I was so excited when I saw that Netflix had a new series about the Netherlands and Belgium called Undercover. This series takes place along the Belgium/Dutch border, however you’ll find a number of other filming locations for Undercover throughout Europe. I’ve done the hard work pinning down these Under filming locations in case you want to go in the shoes of your favorite undercover cops! I’ve tried to avoid spoilers here.

Lommel, Belgium
The main filming location of Undercover is a campground in Lommel Belgium called Oostappen Blue Lake Holiday Park. In case you’re looking for a holiday, this quiet Belgian town is actually quite close to where the Graspop Festival is held each year. We’ve driven through Lommel oddly enough, but never really gave it a second thought! For the true Dutch experience, dress up like Kim and give Dutch camping a go. 😉
Brussels, Belgium
Can you truly film a Belgian location without mentioning Brussels? Withstanding the fantastic chocolate in Brussels, you can retrace the steps on foot on a leisurely visit to Brussels. Although they didn’t film in the most famous parts of Brussels, it was clear that the series was shot in a residential neighborhood!
Eindhoven, the Netherlands
The real Janus van W. (the basis of Ferry Bouman) was actually from Eindhoven, so they had to show a tribute to Eindhoven within the series. They visited the Philips Stadium for a match, which can be visited if you get tickets. Otherwise, you can certainly enjoy a day out in modern Eindhoven (and possibly drive to Lommel!)
If you want to brush up on your Brabants, I recommend spending some extra time in Brabant. Whether you’re curious about visiting Efteling or simply want to explore the beautiful underground canals of Den Bosch, Brabant has a lot of charm! (Brabant is always great to visit during Carnaval.)
Aachen, Germany
I don’t want to post any spoilers, however area near the train station outside of Aachen becomes quite significant for the plotline. You can fairly easily pass by the square that they filmed in by the station if you take the bus from Maastricht to Aachen (or drive). Aachen is truly a great day trip for history lovers and I’d definitely recommend it! Click for a one day guide to Aachen!
Saint Malo, France
The only location that I haven’t been to is Saint Malo, France. This beautiful port city is quite fitting for the series due to the history of piracy here! Saint Malo has beautiful granite walls surrounding the old town, which play a significant role in the series.
The chateau scene was filmed at Malouinière de la Ville Bague. This stunning French chateau where negotiations take place is actually a hotel where you can stay for a reasonable rate for at least two nights. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway and you love this series, check prices as it’s quite reasonable given the amenities of having the house to yourself!

Amazing. I used to live in the US and when I moved to Europe, I first lived in Lommel. When I started watching Undercover, I thought it looked familiar to me. Great show, I wish I had the contacts to work on it as I work in the business. thanks for the article.
Really enjoying watching this series. A lot of suspense and twist and turns. I never been to Europe it’s nice to see countries that I never visited.
Thank you so much for this. Just tonight I finished the third season and I wish there were more coming. (Ferry is next on my watchlist.) This series is a tremendous tragic drama and it left a deep impression on me. I was anxious to map some of the main locations, and your post here gets me off to a great start!
The castle where the horse auction takes place, is that a real place or was it a set built for the series? It’s on season 2 episode 4
It is not a horse auction location, but rather a real castle that you can visit: Kasteel Ooidonk in Deinze, Belgium.
