Why you should visit Eastern Kentucky

May 1, 2023 by Karen Turner 1 Comment

Travel is not just about going somewhere new, but also coming back to somewhere familiar.  I’m an unlikely proponent of visiting Eastern Kentucky as someone who was born and raised in New York City and who had never set foot in Kentucky until I met Jacob.  However, Jacob helped me find the charm of this oft-forgotten region of the United States even if he doesn’t always see it himself.

Rainbow Springs State Park, the most beautiful day trip from Orlando Florida

February 21, 2018 by Karen Turner 1 Comment

My grandparents live in Orlando, Florida, so I’ve gone countless times to the theme parks in Orlando.  Sometimes, you’re looking for something a little different. On my last trip, I took a day trip from Orlando to Rainbow Springs State Park in Dunnellon, Florida.

As much as I love my family, there’s something about being out in nature away from the parking lots, strip malls, and real estate developments that define so much of Florida.  As soon as I reached the crystal-clear water of Rainbow Springs, I felt a sigh of relief amidst all the greenery.  Keep reading for the best budget day trip from Orlando.

I have many talents, but driving is not one of them. I’ve never been given a driver’s license, so I’ve been forced to travel by bus in the USA. Although it’s maybe not “cool” to travel by buses around the United States, taking Greyhound buses and Megabus is often a good cheap way to travel around the USA.

Keep reading for my recommendations for the bus companies in the United States, reviews of different bus companies in the US, what to know about bus travel in the United States, and what to bring on long bus trips in the United States.
